Except that there most commonly sold car is half that, plus maybe $500. Then if you factor in cost of ownership, which its crazy not too, subtract another $5000 or so.

As an American with an EV this seems out of touch. I've lived downtown and in suburbs and gas stations have never been nearby. Street parking needs EV charging and gas stations maybe need fast charging but not normal level 2 charging.

This is completely wrong. The biggest costs to tunnels is bureaucracy. Simply using private funds without numerous contractors can decreases costs by an order of magnitude with no technological improvements.

Its more complicated than this because certainly their gross margin in $ is higher on the tri motor. However this adds complexity. So, what you say is probably true but it has to be worth it given the extra complexity as well.

The deposit used to be $1k because they were short on cash. Now they are not. What is better than cash if you don't need it? An accurate predictor of demand. This is likely what the small $100 deposit is for.
