Don't know much about corporate traffic usage, but at some cheap VPS place like Hetzner you get 20TB traffic per month included für less than 4€. Seems like a lot of traffic to me, probably is next to nothing or would cost more.

It’s actually compressed. It uses https://github.com/nodeca/pako and then applies base64. Try entering hundreds of "a" and you’ll see that the base64 doesn’t really get much longer.
