its generally not, because they fully want to convert you to fte. sure, they have extra time to see you work before the conversion, but its still very expensive to host interns, especially ones you aren't confident in converting.

excessive risk? I mean one could argue that the MBS they bought were slightly risky, but its not like they bought a crap ton of crypto - or bought a bunch of high risk mortgage securities. They got bit by interest rates, which they should

I am stating for prior fails, the number from SVB was that only ~3% were insured. Which was my point, that in the past, there wern't as many e(a)ffected (and they (uninsured) could have received special treatment for all I know).
