That’s because there is no incentive to ‘artificially’ speed up wood decomposition right now. With the right incentive and no thought on unintended consequences, it might happen. You are probably right though.

Government revenue needs to come from somewhere, and inflation is a type of tax. By the time hyperinflation is possible, the federal government will have two choices, keep interest rates low and keep borrowing, or to default.
