The Microsoft Surface Laptop 7 machines have no touchpad or touchscreen support. Listing them as "supported" requires a creative interpretation of the term.

Not really. You need support from the manufacturer. Recent BMC firmwares have openbmc under the hood, with the industry using it as a base for further development or customisation.

The bmc situation is changing. There's an effort to support the ARM SoCs upstream, and there are a number of companies working on open source BMC stacks. https://github.com/openbmc

Thanks for letting us know, just spent the past hour debugging this. Perhaps get it in the FAQ so that when new users such as myself see the Error 525, we know to be patient?
