less than scientific surveyor here: I was all over Korea for a month last Summer and it definitely seemed that Samsung/LG phones were 90% of what I saw. Especially on the metro in Seoul. The few iPhones I saw were all older models.

Fear based ethnic favoritism is xenophobic by definition. Abstracting that with immigration policy, visa types, foreign labor law, etc to influence the effect doesn't change that.
