explorer also allows you to create a new window in a new process now, but not using a keyboard shortcut as far as i can tell. you have to go file > new window > new window using a new process. finicky, but possible.

i prefer it being around, if only because i come from an area that, in the winter time, has 8 hours of daylight to kick off the season. it's nicer to have that start at 8:30 am instead of 9:30

on windows i find myself bouncing around a lot between pdf viewers, choosing between lightweight but feature sparse options (sumatra) and heavier, more featured programs (acrobat, foxit) i've never thought about replacing preview.
