Unfortunately, you're not going to find any modern smartphone, even a "mini", as small as your 5s. I personally find the 4.3-4.7" range compact enough, especially if the bezel is minimal.

Because you can send a message to a /person/ (or multiple people) instead of a /phone number/. Depending on said service, said person can interact with the message independent of device or phone number. Useful for people

"Android phone", please :( or "Android device". technically speaking, "Android" should be "Android-based" for all devices that aren't pure Android, which may or may not be the case for the Moto X

Yeah, I once had a really good run (185) when I usually type 160. I had to prove that I could type 170 on a different text, and I couldn't do it.

If by group texting you mean group MMS, then no, because GV doesn't really support MMS.
