Another thing I can suggest is to network via sites like LinkedIn. I actually got contact with another HN-poster from Brazil! And best tip: if there's no group where you live yet, you can start one!

I fancy Ruby because of it's simple syntax and that in some ways it looks like PHP. I have experience with HTML, CSS and can read PHP. Also, since I know how to build static stuff - I want to learn the backend of things.

Be humble, open for advice and critique. And build up a network as soon as possible. The more people you know, the easier it is to get things done. Don't forget the external network, it helps to know other product managers.

I'd use a lightly blinking notice box at the top of your screen, just below the header. Let it disappear when not clicked within 5 seconds or so. Give a teaser, with a link to take the tour around new features. Only do that when you have se
