I'd agree but it really depends to be honest. A 100% increase in query time for a query that originally takes 50ms is neglectable, for a query that takes 500ms it will indeed make a vital difference.

I sure hope that it's gonna accelerate a solution to the one big problem I have with AppFog ... lack of persisent storage. According to the roadmap it should have high priority but it's been a while since I heard anything about it

The fact that it's static should mean you can host it on any platform that hosts static files. The technology only kicks in when you are writing blogposts and (re)generating your static files before you sync/upload them to your host.
