Fellow Rails developer in Japan here. I gotta say, if you're looking for a native Japanese speaker, then you are looking for a Japanese developer. This seems the wrong site to advertise on :-P. Maybe try posting on daijob.com or something.

Hey, I'm a dev in Tokyo, looking to move to Shanghai. I would have preferred to email you, but the email in your profile is quite difficult to parse. My email is in my profile ;-).

I used to trade Forex (had a small startup). I'm looking to get back into the game. Currently working on a few algorithms that I'd like to test out, soon. I'd love to bounce some ideas around with you. Email is in my profile!

Not surprising. I guess it happens everywhere. Out here, you visit some obscure town, and as you get off the train, you realize everyone is speaking Korean or Mandarin. I guess it's a combination of family moving near family, and friends

Yeah, it's pretty wild. And Dearborn is one of the "better" areas. Some parts of the city look like scenes from a Mad Max film. Everything is either foreclosed, empty, or burned. You know, someone with a little money in their pocket come b

Haha, yeah, it seems surprising at first, but Detroit has a HUGE Mexican and Hispanic population. Also (and due to) we have Mexican Town -- check your English at the door! Whatever you're in the mood for (flautas, tostadas, chorizo), you ca

Nice one! Detroiters should get the reference. Ahh, not surprised one bit. That place is where I was raised, but alas, I was a part of that mass exodus. Besides family (and some awesome Mexican food), I don't miss the city one bit. There is

Yes, it references past ties. But how far back should we go? Most blacks in America are here by way of slavery, which happened over 200 years ago. As metamemetics said, if we go back far enough, hell, everyone is African. Another reason is

As a black American, I'm glad they didn't use the term African-American. It's insulting. While I love the African people, many (if not most) blacks in America have no African ties (at least not for the past few centuries). It's just PC nons

A few years ago, when Rotten Tomatoes began, it was beautiful in its simplicity. Now it's a bloated slow-loading mess. Just a few days ago, I was looking for a simple b.s. free site like this--and here it is!

I'm no master of women psychology; however, I have spoken to many about what they desire. From what I gather, when they tell you this "lie", they actually believe those words. As far as why the lie exists to begin with, well it all boils d

The 7-11 system is quite similar to the payment system for most things (specifically utilities) in Japan. I pay nearly all my debts (in cash) via a scan-able bill at a combini (convenience store). At first it seems weird, but after awhile,

I'm raising a high content wolf hybrid and a Shiba-ken. I can see the plight you speak of daily. However, the strange thing is that it affects my dog more than it does my wolf. During their walks, the little Shiba just wants to run wild, pl

I'm not sure what you mean by "bogus question." How would you classify these: Does Asia have any native writing systems? Or Europe? I consider them quite straight-forward. I am well aware of the cultural make-up of Africa. In regard to your

Unfortunately, I'm not. Growing up in the inner-city (Detroit), the ONLY thing we learned about our ancestors' history was slavery. No desire to thread-jack, but being influenced by such an education system does wonders for one's self-estee

I'd like to take you up on the offer for the forms. Tokyo is getting old, and I find the city quite depressing; wouldn't mind spending some time in the country side. Are you in Japan at the moment?
