IMO, you need to do 2 things to be successful with this app: 1. Integrate with major IM services, AIM, Jabber etc, and have your own "Say Hi service" in there for LBS chat. 2. Put something around the app, as in make it do more than just ch

I would suggest doing a design contest on 99designs.com, or geniusrocket.com (expensive but they do creative videos etc. too) - and see what newer designs you get. 1. The pink needs to go, its not a good association (someone else said this)

What if you put the scripts on Amazon EC2 (S3 or CloudFront), this will alleviate your server load and put it on Amazon's backbone. My startup uses Amazon EC2 for hosting etc, and so far I've been very happy. We are not big either, actually

The installation points out that you need Apache and MySQL server. I wouldn't want to run this on my production server, so if I was to use Mint I would prefer another server.
