Arguably when left alive your health is by definition better than the alternative. I suspect you mean the good health for a few months before death compared with a worse health during and after treatment. Still I had to make the quip.

I'm a bit cynical :) there are other reasons to stay in a job, but the definition of market value is how much you can successfully interview for. So yes staying in a job signals that nobody wants to give you more money.
