I don't know win 10, I use xmonad. There, virtual desktops are 1 per monitor by default. It sounds like what you are saying is that windows virtual desktops span all of your monitors. Is that right? If so, I agree that is lame.

This is not at all true. They are liable for significant monetary damages for violating copyright, and you can find a lawyer to take up the case if you own the copyright. There are a couple well known organizations who have gotten paid more
