True but that loophole was closed when phone books started to collect mobile phone numbers. Nobody was happy with that so it was changed so that people had to actively opt into being listed. Phone books are now dead and good riddance.

Actually you don't need to give location. Parking meters have a four digit code written on them that you can use instead. Location is just for convenience.

On an Android device you can block ads and trackers, even without root. This is the business model of the industry. Every app is loaded with this stuff. Assume hostile behaviour.

Funny enough the much maligned evil Win10 allows for the use of a local account. (I am hesitant to give American companies my personal information because they are not beholden to my country's consumer laws).
