If you have published apps on Android, the developer console gives you detailed information about YOUR install base. Couldn't care less about someone in Somalia using Android 4.4 when 80% of my users are on Oreo.

Actually things have improved considerably this year. You may still not have the latest OS version, but the security patches are arriving every 1-2 months. Oreo is supposed to improve things even further, but for know its just a theory.

LineageOS is pretty good on security and privacy. But IIRC you may NOT have the latest patches even if you have the latest version. There is a XDA post somewhere explaining this.

I still think Chrome has some advantages. For example you can disable a lot of things like location services in the settings. In Firefox you can decline access to location once a site asks for it but I would rather disable it once and for a

May I ask, if you are not interested in vim why would you choose spacemacs instead of vanilla emacs? To me spacemacs just feels heavier than many IDEs.
