Have you looked into the different Hackerspaces around the country? TOG in Dublin run Repair Cafe events [ https://www.tog.ie/repair/ ] and I'd be durprised if other spaces don't. You can find a list of other H

I don't believe that's true any longer. The U.S. moves over Greenland have a large part to play in this, but I think the sanctioning of the International Criminal Court is much more relevant. Overnight ICC officials couldn't

Stripping the metadata on a photo is probably a feature though. For privacy reasons the default should most likely be that location, device info etc are taken out of photos that might go viral or be shared beyond what the original user inte

I don't think so. I'm on Ubuntu and mostly use debs (apt), I'll use Snaps if that's the easiest way to get an update. I use Appimages for some ephemeral stuff or when that's the only way developers release it (some

Did it? What adoption numbers? Number of distros? Number of applications? Ubuntu seems to dwarf other Linux distrobutions in terms of numbers of users. Are you saying more users have Flatpak installed than have Snap installed?

I love Fdroid and the way it makes FOSS software more available. I wish it was a bit more polished though. On my stock unrooted OnePlus6t there is no option for updating all possible apps at once. Like if there are 3 apps to update it takes

I can't see a single Note without logging in, or in my case creating an account. That's a hard limit on exploration.

It's very dystopian. National / bank / religious holidays etc shouldn't come out of your individual holidays.

I don't use NixOS, or have any great interest in it tbh. But this podcast featuring Martin Wimpress (of Linux Mate and other projects) does a decent job of describing what NixOS is, and previews some ongoing and upcoming efforts to add

That's a really good tip. "Let me know if there's anything I can do" isn't all that helpful without being specific.

I think there are a few things going on. One is that the Internet makes showing off what you do so easy, and adding ads is just a small addition to a website, blog or YouTube channel so monetization is fairly straightforward. Another Intern

If Ubuntu and it's derivatives go for Snaps then while that's a minority of distros it's probably a majority of the Linux user base.
