I enjoyed playing the trivia games on it with a group. I didn't like having to pay $1 to unlock the trivia... but then I figured on a $50-$80 group bill, what's $1. Liked being able to pay when we were ready to go. In this day whe

Corporate structure can be figured out later, but if there are 2 of you, agreeing on a 50/50 split is your best bet... Deciding if you are for or non-profit can be decided later (add that to the application that you are deciding), but

I seem to answer the age question every application period....[1]. That said. We were 36 & 37. Not the oldest they'd ever seen, but one of the oldest in our batch. But there were a few of us over 35... [1] https://news.y

We had several Hispanic/Latino founders in our batch. Were they specifically of Mexican descent. No idea. Doesn't matter.

As sama answered above (below?) Angel investing is likely not going to help your cause. If you are already successful to the point that you have enough financial viability, then it's a lot easier to walk away from something that isn&#x

I created an HN account when we applied, because I had to. I lurked beforehand, but never commented. My cofounder had about 14 months on me account wise but he had been thinking about applying us to YC for that whole time. So I don't t

According to this story [1], in 2012 airlines made just $0.37 per passenger trip. So, while I think the inefficient pricing is in need of repair, to say that prices are too high, is unfortunately not true. I hate paying for transcontinental

Because YC is involved with a startup for 3 months far more intimately in a very early and telling stage. a16z, with all it's due diligence, won't know a startup as well as YC does at that stage.

This. I'd think batches with 200 (500? 1000? startups) will come before Series A's. If only on principle.

That's only partially true, and not really an option for most. Your trivial expenses are related to the amount of money you have. For most, a $3 coffee or $14 cocktail go from trivial to significant very quickly. If you have 10x that a

I would assume as they expand internationally, they will send jobs to the "print shop" nearest the destination to minimize time and cost.

We've used Lob for various printing needs from postcards to stand up banners (excellent btw) for trade shows; and plan to continue using them as needs arise. The turnaround time has always been quick.

Creating an account that now has 40k followers. Not sure what value there is in that... but someone might care.

Congrats to team twitch. It was one of the first offices I walked into that made me wish I worked in a place like that. So much energy. So much fun.

There are certainly tangible hurdles to scaling. Namely, number of partners. Quality support, advice is hard to do with a 100:1 ratio. Much better at 10:1. There's also physical space, but as we see, YC is opening up more space so that

Probably under $100k... Location location location, am I right? Even if it was more, that's your brand. As we've seen that search engines can make or break you, this is one of the few things you can control.

Some people own bikes that have value... and would like to track them in case they get stolen. Be it for insurance purposes, trying to recover it, or as a buyer to not buy a stolen bike.

Just having an idea is tough. Having a market for that idea, with some interest is better. When we did YC, I was 36. I wasn't the oldest, but it was close. There have been founders in their 40's and even 50's (as far as I kno
