IMO. The problem for Google with real names was people who didn't want to be associated with their real names and already were deeply dependent on Google for the their phone / email. I recall the transgender outing articles [1]. R

I have a yubikey. I primarily use it in conjunction with Lastpass. It works well. I like it. I kept the Google authenticator app for email, but let Lastpass manage all the passwords for basic websites for me.
