I remember writing code in a paper notebook in 1986 and then having columns for each variable and simulating the computer processing the language. It can be done, but it is much harder than using a computer.

Software as a Service is the model Microsoft Office and Adobe products went to with subscriptions. I can use LibreOffice instead of MS Office, but GIMP isn't the same as Photoshop, etc. There needs to be a moonshot project to make GIMP
