A slight over simplification, for example s&p was negative 1% per year from Jan 2000 to Dec 2009. Plus the cost of your leverage. But the general point that US equity returns have been good and leverage would have increased them stands.

Probably too simplistic. Innovation serves some and “disrupts” others. Uber might be a handy ride for you. A NYC cabbie who is in debt for his medallion might see it the opposite.
