Context and motivation. Being able to provide an experience for your descendents motivates you to act. Without that ability, there is no reason to do anything.

Those two conclusions don't seem mutually exclusive. The universe created the mind in the most broad sense. The mind is basically designed to learn patterns in the universe. Getting closer to one should get your closer to the other.

It is knowable whether the page was opened that way, by seeing if the browser environment is still around after the click. The analysis could just ignore that set of data.

I recently stopped using an alarm clock, and it seems to work out a lot better. I now don't get waken up in the middle of a sleep cycle, and the sunlight naturally wakes me up.
