I deleted Boost app from my phone, to not mindlessly open it. Coincidentally Boost is an alternative app to access Reddit through their API. Luckily I don't use reddit from my laptop, due to to horrible experience. So no muscle memory

My guess would be it fixates on the most dominant source available and mutes the other factors. It probably favors human voices over other ambient noise, therefore singeing the man out. It will really get freaky when there an ambient noise
