I think it's reached commodity status instead of community... 3D printing I mean. At that point only thing that matters is ease of use, price, and quality of the result. People who are not _in_ the community but use the tool.

Perfect is the enemy of the good, right? I mean a page header or some other simple means to identify "adult" vs not is good for most cases? Just thinking about it.. obviously it can be bypassed but is there a good enough?

There are some Firewire SCSI adapters. Sometimes older Firewire tape drives have internal SCSI to Firewire boards. I've used them to with old SCSI CD drives.
