Most large Stripe clients split traffic. It doesn't make sense to have Stripe be a single point of failure if you're processing enough volume.

It's definitely not worth an engineer's time to resolve random customer issues, especially as Stripe has grown from ~500 people to ~7000 people. Gone are the days where all the engineers were intimately familiar with every product

SF rents have fallen significantly only in "undesirable" areas which are mostly offices and high rises where rents were exorbitant anyway. My friend's shoebox apartment was $3300/mo which he renewed for another 13 months
