To me at least, I liked Kingdom Hearts as a kid despite the Disney stuff, not thanks to it. I played it after Final Fantasy IX and X so I really enjoyed the change from turn-based combat.

While I personally really enjoy jokes I agree that they can add a lot of noise in online communities. I'd love to find a bunch of other "serious only" communities for other topics I enjoy, I'd then read the no-jokes ones
