We use it for backend. F500 company. There is almost no locking with Kotlin. You can stop writting Kotlin code any time and start writting Java code. However I think it's not possible to call coroutine code from Java.

Are you really an independent contractor if you cant set your own prices? To me Uber drivers are neither employees nor independent contractors. Working as much or as little as they want is not enough to be considered independent contractor.

I have worked in places where adding a new server is a bureocratic nightmare at best. Granted I dont think thats the norm, but also host your webserver yourself is not as user friendly as AWS. People always forget that.
