3.92V is very conservative, that is a good voltage for long term storage even. It should be safe to charge to 4.05-4.10V regularly.

From my experience of working on a few Teslas, I would say they are easier to repair than most ICE cars. Well at least the newer ones (model 3 and Y).

If you can’t charge above 80% at 3kw then you have a major problem with your car. Cell balancing does not require high wattage charging.

Long term solar + EVs will win. With enough solar panels and backup batteries no generators are needed. Currently they are too expensive, but will become more affordable in the future.

Often one would get that feeling when seeing a cyclist because we realize that while we see THIS specific cyclist NOW, at some point in the future we may be in a situation where we do not see one… and end up hitting them, hence the anxiety.

I used to love manual transmissions - almost all cars I owed had one, but only until I first experienced driving a Tesla. Now that I had been driving EVs I like the user experience and feel of control of the car more.

Yes there are kits for sale that will allow you to interfere with the Tesla drivetrain, you would wire that ecu to the accelerator pedal, etc. Most conversations use battery modules from model S/X as they are smaller modules than ones

Yea can’t really service the new pack :( have to replace the whole thing. Right Tesla battery packs are expensive (~$8K for a used pack) but once battery costs go down, in perhaps 10 years, I imagine a third party shop would be able to swa

Btw yesterday I took off a rear motor off a model Y. Probably took me about 2 hours to remove. So much easier than removing am engine or a transmission from an ICE car. Most difficult part to replace is the HV battery- it’s a whole day jo
