This feels like the start of a paradigm shift. I need to reunderwrite what my vision of the future looks like.

Statistics are not a license to assume. Crime rates also statistically correlate with demographics, but if I assume a specific person is a criminal based on that stat, I would (rightly) be called racist. Expecting people to assume 'his

My interpretation is it would be less likely to happen near a wealthy neighborhood compared to a poor neighborhood. Why talk about race if its not about race?

You’re conflating race with poverty. It feels racist to expect people to assume a neighborhood is 'resource poor' just because it is 'historically black'. Also, the OP explicitly states that lawsuits are pending. Clearly

That makes sense. For some reason though I still sense a hint of desire for retribution in the original comment

The phrasing 'historically black neighborhoods' feels like it pushes a specific agenda rather than just addressing the pollution. It implies that if this were happening near a non black neighborhood, it wouldn’t be as egregious, w

This reminds me of the quote "I know just enough to be dangerous" I wonder how long until we have an AI on our shoulder saying "Hey why are you booking a new flight, there is a better option"

That is infuriating corp speak. I'm sympathetic if a business can't fulfill its obligations, nobody wants to fail. If they had admitted they messed up and wanted to fix it then I honestly would be okay with that. But to try to dit

Indentured servitude prevents switching jobs, so we can't assume its their best option. As long as workers are free to switch jobs, we can assume its their best option, that despite all of the downsides, they think its worth it. I'

If the workers want better conditions they can leave. If all options are below what we would consider moral then we should change laws. The solution to a problem in a free market is not inside of one company.

Everyone else in this thread frustrates me, but I understand it. Compassion is ingrained in us, while free market economics is not. Nobody here is really thinking through what happens if they are successful at boycotting and destroying Amaz

I agree, in my opinion, a common misconception I've seen is people saying wealth isn't zero sum. It can be created from thin air, but as long as there are needed and scarse resources (housing, maybe medical, maybe ivy league colle

It looks like the vision costs the same for GPT-4o vs mini. Both start with 150x150px and if you click the (i) it says mini uses way more base tokens and way more tile tokens, it still costs the same...
