It's a developer decision. But I'd say it's easier to not use dependencies on native because there are more capable system API. I don't use any in my iOS apps, and only one dependency in 20 macOS apps.

I have a few of these drives. They also rip discs very accurately. Bit-identical to my Plextor, at a fraction of the price. But sadly no ripping software offers these the verification logging that is required for redump approval.

Cool, this is the Kobo model I have. I did install some homebrew on it in the past to get Koreader, but quickly realised I prefer the no frills integration of the official reader. I still use Koreader to read old magazines on an old Android
