The EU does that since the emissions are taxed via the EU ETS and it just results in the most expensive electricity in the world.

With current ai models laying off 50% of engineers seems plausible. Obviously there would be some problems at the start but I'm quite sure it'd work over time.

Greece doesn't have its own currency and is completely reliant on private debt markets. Investors, mostly banks, started demanding higher yields, and Greece couldn't do anything about it. The EU used that as an excuse to impose ga

Short term government bond yields are trading within the fed interest rates (as it should be) and long term yields are a bit higher as it usually is (an inverted yield curve is rare). It's nothing unusual.

A debt crisis like in eurozone countries in 2008 is very unlikely to happen in the US. For it to happen, it would require the fed working against the us government.

A garbage article. Yields went down after the housing bubble in 2007 because the central bank interest rates were lowered, not because the investors decided to flock to a safe asset. Yields are high because the inflation is also running hig

AI can write much more code than it was possible before but the real question is whatever that is of any economic value or is it more comparable to the iron smelting in china during the mao reign.

Long-term bonds can be replaced with short-term bonds which are constantly rolled over. It wouldn't make sense if the market was pricing in anything else than future interest rates.

The US emits two types of scrapes of paper, one of which (bonds) promises the other (the us dollar) and the "experts" somehow think america can actually go bankrupt. That's hilarious.

Creating a new language in the age of AI seems kind of pointless. I don't write code by hand anymore, I only review it and I prefer it to be in a language which I already know since investing time in learning another language doesn

The problem with public debt is vastly overestimated. It mostly doesn't matter at all. It can be just rolled over forever like it always was. It's the private debt which is the problem since individuals and enterprises don't
