Simple and clever. One concern I have is in my experience the kindle displays are quite fragile, I would worried it would break mounted like that.

If I listen carefully, I can tell the difference between 48 and 50hz using a sine generator (although it's very subtle), so I'd guess that you possibly could.

Yes! This is a major issue even in moderate traffic. They could probably adapt the under-side lights to function as turn signals. The scooters are just too narrow to drive one-handed.
