That's correct, which typically defeats the point of using it since in that case you still have access to Touch ID. The above link works in both scenarios, and can be used as a fallback for pam_tid.

I'm running Emacs natively on M1 and it works great. The biggest missing piece is certain static analyzers like shellcheck aren't available for ARM yet since ghc is still working on support, although you can probably get it workin
