Thanks for the information! My Motu (M2) does live on a linux machine and it's been relatively painless, worked on MacOs as well, but required a driver download on Windows. I never dug into why. Audio interfaces tend to be finicky thin

Pretty good, I use Shure IEMs to block wind noise on motorcycle rides and having access to podcasts/audiobooks are a nice bonus when slogging down freeways. I can still hear car engines and sirens, but it removes the wind buffeting in

Think you are doing platformio a disservice here. It has a VSCode plugin available but there is also a standalone set of commandline tools that are editor/IDE agnostic.

Esp32 has its own framework/runtime but you can flash it using arduino framework. Have you checked out the platformio cli?

Few months back I put together Ryzen 3950x with an ASUS X570-ACE motherboard. Has been completely painless running Fedora. With a Gen3 Ryzen and a mainstream linux distro you probably can't go wrong.
