I was surprised to see an immediate mode gui toolkit. They're great to integrate into a game loop because you control your loop, (and they're a delight to use) but I thought for perf retained mode was the way to go? Am I missing s

Agreed. It's something I've found annoying about a few systems. It looks like the rust bindings have streaming examples so hopefully there is a nice solution here.

Really? I thought retail was. It's been almost a decade since I worked at prime video but I think everything was running on AWS. (Some things didn't use brazil etc, but I think all the servers etc. were on AWS)
