Even assuming the end-state of all this is Trekonomics -- consider the amount of retired folks that generally just sit around and watch TV. I think a massive culture-shift is in order before we can even consider a healthy society consisting

Jeez. Surely the ECS agent could just query for permission to join a cluster, and disable if disallowed?

My comment didn’t really portray what I’m getting at. Food insecurity is obviously an indicator for financial confidence. I know people can afford food, on top of the fact they will choose to pay for it because they have to. I know people w

Pretty big gap in quality of life between people who have no worries about their next meal and those who have to stress over every one.

I think about this problem often in life because of my tendency to procrastinate. Only the long term effects that cause me serious paranoia get any real attention (failing to meet social expectations, major health issues, large-figure finan

SSAO really is awful but it’s the best performing AO we could get for a long time afaik. It’s such a hallmark of 00s and 10s rendering that I laugh every time I see it in a modern release. There are some new solutions hitting the space, I b

Ehhh, I think most engineers that actually want this are pretty accepting of their current tooling and wouldn’t want to switch to a whole new Linux distribution just for a slightly more seamless experience. Besides, the people who care are

The reality is more along the lines of traditional rendering with special ML models inferring and splicing in generated frames. Framegen is already in most modern games and Nvidia has made it a driver level option for many unsupported ones.

Why waste time memorizing arcane flags when you can spend that time actually building things? Frankly I still check man pages for things like tar all the time and I’ve been using linux for over a decade. It becomes less of a fun learning ac

Yes, this is a separate runtime. Docker handles containerization differently with more overhead. OCI is a 'standard' way of constructing container images and both are compatible with OCI.

Interesting. From the hyundai manual, driver attention monitoring only uses front sensor with no face recognition in the vehicle as far as I can tell. Are you sure your cruise control issue isn’t because of hand sensors? Also, I think the i

For those interested or forced to buy a new car — I recently picked up a brand new Hyundai and was impressed the new tech does not get in the way. ‘Driver attention warning’ does not have a face camera, it just uses the front sensor to conf
