Depends on what laws you're considering. So not knowing exactly which country the server was located in or the country the police that enacted the DDoS are from it is hard to say if it's legal or not.

Potato cannons, not really rocket launchers. Rocket implies it being a self propelling object, so more of a missile-launcher/cannon. It may even be considered in closer relation to a mortar than rocket launcher.

Weapons do go missing all the time. Or at least weapons with the same serial/registration numbers of destroyed weapons show up all the time, be it at crime scenes, terrorist orgs, or weapons collectors.

If someone have lifted your pin/password, they can very much unlock your phone while you are unconscious. IMO a combination of bio-metric and pin/password/phrase would be a good solution.

I would assume that they prefer to use "clean" ground water as opposed to sewage or seawater to minimize the buildup of waste or salt during the evaporation. One would imagine the extra maintenance required would be very costly.

My guess would be that bulletproof hosts are safe enough for long enough that it's both money and time wise better/easier to deal with than p2p.

I don't have any statistics but I'd guess a lot of the money goes to the publishers and IP/Licence holders. Most game studios produce games on behalf of established publishers like EA with licenses from companies like Disney
