I agree, mini-HDMI seems like a strange choice. I had to buy an adapter for my Pi Zero and hate having to keep track of it. I would be thrilled if USB-C became the ubiquitous connector.

I recently switched from a Macbook Pro to a Thinkpad T470s running Arch Linux. I switch between GNOME, KDE, and i3. I think GNOME and KDE are as pleasant, if not more so, than macOS.
