If you have a database that supports SQLMED, you can probably already query outward table data without loading/serialising between formats. You can even optionally generate an index on some systems. MariaDB has the Connect Engine, Post

On Edge and Safari it's just an interface over a black screen. For a video game to reach a wider audience, should this not be a little more compatible with us boring old vanilla users?

MariaDB and PostgreSQL. Amazing software that is open source for us to dive in and play with. FoundationDB was a recent treat.

Something similar existed years ago with ME10 running on HPUX. Many similar things existed. Workflows centrally hosted, on site, with terminals or workstation clients. Literally many engineers could work on a single drawing or design and in

It feels so inhuman. Like everything google, there are no names, no faces, no citations. Just walls of information and puzzles. Khanacademy has gone a similar direction; they have removed the human element from learning and are not hiding t

My 2 cents from the trenches back in 2004 and the LAMP stacks boomed; replication. It’s really really super simple. And the binlog format is open! The commercial and open source options at the time, were painful to scale. Go ask an amazon e

Apple doesn't count? did you RTFA? It's all about apple and proprietary graphics API's. Apple Metal launched in 2014. Sony and Nintendo and NEVER used OpenGL for anything extensive. Sony talked the talk around 2005 and 2006 w

It's not just Apple. This is what everyone forgets. It's Microsoft, Apple, Sony and Nintendo. Every big vendor and platform for 3D games and software, has their own graphics API which work better and faster than OpenGL and Vulkan.
