They already responded to FOIA requests, briefed Congress publicly and privately, and announced AARO when they didn't have to. We're pretty well-informed, and Congress has some oversight. It's very ordinary.

Maybe. Blender has had an organization behind it for about 20 years [1]. FreeCAD formed its organization less than 2 years ago [2]. It'll be a while no matter what, but their success will largely depend on how well their roadmap aligns
