Just use optparse-applicative in PureScript. Applicatives are great for this and the library gives it to you for free.

What are obnoxious types? Types either represent the data correctly or not. I think you can force types to shut up the compiler in any language including Haskell, Idris, PureScript...

Yeah. If they say it's not possible, they probably are just lazy. Concerning animations that's what is missing from Figma and I think for similar reasons they're missing from many products.
