Evercam has used Seaweed for a few years. We've 1344TB of mostly jpegs and use the filer for folder structure. It's worked well for us, especially with low cost Hetzner SX boxes. I'd echo other people's positive comments

well spotted @vinnyglennon , it's only a small step from this to integrating cctv footage into fantootage. The missing link is whatever is required to make it easier to make requests & retrieve needed footage.

I can't be entirely sure that it's to do with the tools used (I'm familiar with most of the ones mentioned in the comments) but my most successful API designing, at a high level, has been in a spreadsheet.
