   Seconded! Also play with assembly language for a small CPU, even in an emulator. Doing assembly in the 68k and Z80 really helped me grok computers. Even the old assembly makes super CPUs of today more understandable.

    On my second order, AliExpress asked for a picture of my passport (or other id). Was a bit disconcerting. Did you encounter that? I found what I needed on newegg and ebay instead.

    So far, I've had very good luck with the ASUS AC1300 (asus_rt-ac58u) and OpenWRT. I still need to add to the openwrt wiki but it was pretty easy. (Luck == I've bought two so far, plan to buy more)

    Compilers are a lot of fun; I did compilers in grad school. I regret not taking more EE courses. I would expect we all think about the classes we wanted to take but didn't. :-/

    Maybe stealthiness? TSRs could be viewed with the right tools, IIRC. This seems like a technique to hide code?
