Your phone probably isn't compromised. It's common where I am to get spam phone calls that spoof Caller ID to match the area code and first 3 digits of your own number, to appear "local" and make you think it might be so

Since when? They used Pentalobe on just about everything the last decade. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pentalobe_security_screw Though it's gotten easier to get pentalobe screwdrivers, albeit made of Chinesium.

Also on a Mac. File preview works when .ratrc is present, otherwise just a file list and selector. Are you sure it's at ~/.config/rat/.ratrc ?
