I mostly feel this on Microsoft stuff. O365 browser stuff was always buggy, but last month I had to fight to zoom in on something in PowerPoint. Pagination in Azure ML randomly broke, it took them a month to fix it. Atlassian is also a bug

I don't think that much is shared between streets and roads. Roads need all the details about curvature in the article so car traffic flows efficiently. Compare that to the beautiful but narrow streets of a Mediterranean town. Building

If we have a 9 km mountain on an otherwise spherical planet (r=6371 km), the horizon would be 339 km away. With two mountains having a sightline between eachother the maximum theorethical distance doubles to 678 km.

If they want to show that the infrastructure did not involve central planning, they should search for hacks. Stuff that is not centrally planned always ends up with hack where engineer A's domain meets engineer B's.

It pretty much is, but it's not rad hard in the sense that you can change or delete any one letter. Well, maybe in animals and plants, since we have at least two copies of most genes.

I think AWS has a similar service where they send a van to your private datacenter that has a bunch of storage servers in it to help you migrate to S3. You plug the van in the network and start uploading.

Implement everything in Zulu, then watch as the frontend ticket for proper rendering stays on the bottom of the backlog, because you always have more concerning problems than users having to do mental math on times.

I only had an intro course in CPU architecture, but AFAIK pipelining depends on parts of the pipeline running on the same clock. I'd say CPU manufacturers already sidestepped this limitation by using multicore dies.

I think the author has left out a big piece why Rust enables better interface here: ownership. In C++ could the compile time checks prevent me from creating both an input and output type working on the same pin?

I got the same feeling asking ChatGPT about some basic logic and maths concepts. IMO GPT can find the relevant training data to regurgitate, but i don't think it connects concepts.

Everyone is subject to the Dunning-Kruger effect. IMO intelligence is more about how quickly can you adapt to a new field. Everyone will have stupid moments if they are thrown in the deep waters of an unfamiliar field.
