While reading Pushing Ice a very common thought I had was "did Reynolds want to do a Rama sequels?" Shroud is great, easy recommendation. Another of Tchaikovsky, Alien Clay, also great, also very alien.

I enjoyed the sequels but they're a completely separate story to me, and I don't think I'd read them again. I didn't go in with the expectation that they'd be just like Rendezvous with Rama.

i decided to use htmx for a frontend for myself and it was a pretty fun experience. even got tailwind involved pretty easily with my rust+maud backend.

my dotfiles follow atlassian's tutorial where they do this, but put the git dir somewhere else and alias away the git command. It has worked pretty well for me. https://www.atlassian.com/git/tutorials/dotfiles

we're using the kong gateway controller on aws eks, it's pretty neat. I prefer to manage it via argocd/gitops over terraform.

Karpenter is great for managing spot fleet nodes as well. Most of our clusters run a small aws managed node group for karpenter and the rest of the nodes will be spot fleet and managed by karpenter.

It doesn't seem like most Nobel laureates do their work with the sole intent of winning. I think it serves more as one of the highest forms of recognition, not necessarily a place to stand on a podium.
