I guess it would be possible to run my own local DNS server that connects to these DoH servers. Does any DNS server support DoH? This could also allow the user to override domains using their /etc/hosts file in case DoH on Firefox

Why is this supported at the application level instead of the OS? So other tools like ping or nslookup can use it too.

According to https://github.com/brave/adblock-rust they use a similar algorithm as uBlock Origin. So not really "new", just reimplemented in rust.

On Android I use DNS66 [0], it creates a VPN server in my phone, redirects DNS traffics through it and filters it. This way I get adblock all the time even if I don't have a PiHole. Edit: I see now this app by CloudFlare does the same.

That's probably because in every Youtube video ever, there's always someone asking what's the song in the background. I think it should be recognized as law akin to Godwin's law, the Darud Sandstorm's law.
