On imgcat, those extensions to the xterm protocol[0] seem really nice. I've long thought that there needs to be a simple escape sequence for a horizontal divider that doesn't break upon resizing, they should do that next! Also che

Why is Discord always ignored in discussions of slack alternatives? It's literally a slack clone. Are you all just put off by the marketing or the fact that it's not exclusively used by 'professionals'?

I was just about to ask HN to come up with some communication devices using only ancient technology. Although your rubber duck system would require less manpower than a system of signal fires, it would be MUCH slower, and probably even slow

This isn't even a strange adapter, I'd be surprised if this didn't exist. Why not get excited about cassette tape to 3.5mm adapters (very real and also very useful)?

If I were feeling pedantic I'd mention the universities of Oxford, St Andrews, Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Aberdeen... As well as a handful in Spain and Portugal ;)

It's worth mentioning that nearly every board on 8chan IS moderated, by the board owners. Its exactly the same as the Reddit model, paid admins only enforce the few site wide rules and board owners are left to moderate their boards how

Have you ever tried to seek treatment for depression? I and others I know have found it incredibly hard to get any sort of treatment other than the SSRI at the top of their list.

An alternative would be to throttle your network speed to like 2g with your dev tools, although this will obviously effect, say, YouTube more than HN

4chan partially solved this problem by using inside knowledge to identify 'newf*gs' and push them out. Triforce, fingerboxes, etc. The weirdly complex boardculture was self sustaining because new people couldn't even keep up

I recently split a restaurant bill with 7 other early-twenty-somethings. I think 5 of us had Monzo (making things much easier). They have been immensely successful among the younger demographic. Monzo have been doing a lot of advertising on

I recently saw this mock up of a DE done in Unity[0]. Maybe not the best use case but interesting nonetheless. I've long dreamt of putting together an intuitive CAD tool equivalent to SketchUp in Unity.i think it's probably doable

Perhaps hubristic is an unfair description. As far as I know Sacks was treating patients with L-DOPA on a hunch, based on the surface similarities if their symptoms with Parkinson's. Positive results for L-DOPA with Parkinson's ha

Bear in mind that you wouldn't do a jump for charity if you wanted to it anyway. Their usual clientele would probably be very fit and young, whereas charity jumpers would be more likely to be old or unfit. So I'm sure their overal
