The Glide API was the only hardware acceleration in there for a good while before it got OpenGL. I remember using a third party wrapper or something to make it work on whatever it was I had in 1999.

There are very strict protections in place surrounding software’s use of a users address info. It’s not just a library call to access it (which the Shopping UI might do). Requires explicit user opt in on a per feature basis.

They did more than complain. They made their own hacker SDK. It was a pretty awesome time. For the first few years the black market software world on iOS could do a ton of fun things that official apps couldn’t at all.
