Just remind me of the story about a consultant that got paid a lot of money just to fix one line of code. The cost is not on the component, but the knowledge to know which component to fix. That's not something that come cheap.

Because having a mass layoff is an easy way to reduce non productive people. Otherwise you have to go through a complicated process for each individual, with a higher risk to be sued.

Also speculative, but Google probably has a set of equipments that don't work well with others. When you play in the access and transport space, there usually a set of standard that you have to follow, in order for it to work together

A bit of advise, you need to compare between capital gains vs stock loss. Most problems come when the stock is losing 40% of its value, and still keep it in order to avoid capital gains, ended up losing even more.

But I think the implication is a lot more than just being the second. Once you're the second, you can't easily dictate anything anymore. Just like having multiple buyers, the seller has more options to sell the product.

Couldn't agree more. I have two kids. I've spent a lot of money to make them healthier, smarter, and happier. I want nothing in return except to see them smile and growing to be a wonderful human being. Believe it or not, I'm happy.

Depends on the employers. Lot more employers now are willing to switch away from BB. There were some reports few months ago that was showing how the BB market on corporate/enterprise was declining. For me personally, I own both Droid and iP

That's one thing. The other problem he was also trying to cover was, how do you scale? When you are dealing with a big project, how can you tame the complexity of dealing with so many people?

CMIIW, but is that the reason why Google acquired MetaWeb a few months ago? I'm expecting to see some improvement on that front.
